Marriage: Pointless?

I think so... You dont need to be married to spend the rest of your life with someone. And weddings are so boring, full of religious crap, too.

i'm not going to because i'd be repeating myself (i posted it in my journal and in a discussion elsewhere)

Yeah it really is pointless, and such a waste of money. If you really love someone you don't need a piece of paper to prove it. I also think that these people who renew their vows are idiots, its not like they run out or anything...

I think they do that if they are in a rut... which is what happens if you dont keep it interesting.

I don't like marriage in the sense that it is religious - the vows and the like are all made "in the presence of God", and I'm very anti-religion. I think civil partnerships for all is the way forward, so it's fair for straight people and gays or whatever.

I dont even see the point in those...

But, marriage does allow you to get economic stuff sorted too, like getting the money when the other one pops their clogs!
